Tips to help you keep your boots in best shape:

  1. Before your first use, apply a weather resistance coating on the boot to minimize any possible damage that can be encountered on the road.
  2. It is important that you check your boots after every use. Check the boots for any pebbles or stones that may be stuck or for any stain or dirt that you should remove immediately.
  3. Clean the boots after use by dusting it off with a damp cloth to remove loose dirt.
  4. Do not use cleaning solutions that contain strong chemicals that can cause for the discoloration of the boot. It is better to use plain water.
  5. In case of tough dirt that cannot be removed with simple wiping or for dirt that have settled in after not cleaning for a week, you can use a mild cleanser or a Saddle Oil to clean it. The saddle oil will loosen up the dirt as well as give a protective coat on your boot.
  6. Apply leather conditioner occasionally to keep the leather flexible to prevent it from drying out and keep it soft. When applying leather conditioner, be sure to apply two thin coats instead of one thick coat.
  7. To keep your boots waterproof, periodically apply water protector so that the boot's leather will not absorb water but instead keep water running off it. Before you purchase a water protector, be sure to read the label to see if the spray can used on the material of which your boots are made.
  8. Polishing is not necessary for your boots but if you want a shiny pair occasionally, polish it by using boot cream polish and a boot shining cloth.
  9. Always dry out your boot completely after cleaning or before storing. Air-dry the pair or use a boot dryer. A boot dryer is efficient because it is very easy to use, dries out the boots completely by blowing up lukewarm air and does not do any damage to the leather of the boot. Never place your boot near a heat source like a stove or a fireplace to dry it out because this is very harmful to the leather.
  10. Even though your John Deere boots are made of high quality materials, it does not mean it is invincible. Repair right away any damage that you see or bring it to a reliable shoe repair shop to take immediate action.

Your boots are definitely a worthy investment. Be sure that you care for it properly so that it lasts a long time with you.
